Program:

Participants will be instructed in the fundamentals and techniques of trap shooting with SAFETY being the first priority. Having fun is the second priority.  The practice sessions will be structured to develop the skills and knowledge of the sport.

Practices:

We will meet at the Sidney Shooting Park trap range on Sundays from 1-3 p.m. beginning February 5th, 2017 and ending April 30, 2017. Up to 3 rounds of 25 targets will be shot each Sunday. We will also have classroom instruction in 2017.

Target Fees:

There is no clay target fee for the Spring Youth program! Generous donations have been given to the program by our business and individual supporters that will cover the cost of the targets and ammo for 3 rounds per youth/per week.

Equipment:

Each shooter is required to use eye and ear protection, no exceptions. The shooter must provide his or her own 12- or 20-gauge shotgun, and shell pouch or vest. Semi-auto shotguns should have a shell catcher. No toe pads allowed.

We will use light target ammo 2-3/4 dram loads  1145 fps  - no game loads. Some ammunition will be provided based on the number of shooters.

Cornhusker Jr./Sr. High School Shoot:

Another opportunity of the program is preparation for attending and competing in the Cornhusker Youth Trapshoot held in Doniphan, Nebraska on May 4-6, 2017.  Junior High School teams and individuals will compete on Thursday, May 4th, and the Senior High School teams and individuals will compete on both Friday, May 5th and Saturday, May 6th.   Doniphan is located south of Grand Island, NE.  For this Cornhusker competition, a youth is required to have a Hunter Education card as it is run by the Nebraska Game and Parks Department.  All other practices and regional events for the Sidney program do not not require a Hunter Education card.
