Welcome to the Sidney Shooting Park

We have closed the 10 station sporting clays course for the winter, but sporting clays shooters can stay in top form by shooting our new 5-Stand sporting clays course, located on the trap range at trap #1. The course includes standard, rabbit and Chondel presentations and will be available on all open shoot days during the winter shooting season. The cost is $5 for a round of 25 targets.

Our winter schedule has started and the Sidney Shooting Park will be open the first Sunday of each month from December 7th, 2008 through March 1st, 2009. The Trap, Archery, and 5-Stand Sporting Clays ranges will be open from Noon to 4 PM each open shoot date. All Shooting Park events are weather permitting.

Location

The Sidney Shooting Park is located in the Sidney Wilderness Area one mile north of Illinois Street (Hwy. 30) on Greenwood Ave. Click here for a map.

About the Sidney Shooting Park

The Sidney Shooting Park was established early in 2005 as a not-for-profit organization dedicated to the establishment of a shooting sports facility near Sidney, Nebraska and the promotion of shooting sports in the greater southwest Panhandle area. Following approval by the Sidney City Council to lease SSP land north of the city landfill, work immediately began on a sporting clays range and the first sanctioned clays shoot was held on April 30, 2005. Shortly thereafter a 10-week sporting clays league was arranged and shoots were held once or twice weekly during the summer.

Plans for a trap range were approved late spring of 2005 and earth-moving work for what will be the largest trap facility in the Panhandle region got underway in the fall.

In June the SSP Board approved construction of an archery venue at Sidney Shooting Park. The archery range opened in August and SSP held its first 3-D archery tournament in early September.

Work continues on the development of the trap facility and the SSP board is also engaged in ongoing research into locations for rifle and handgun shooting facilities.

The Sidney Shooting Park is supported by an advisory committee and numerous volunteers that have donated time, money and resources to bring this facility into existence.
